Culture does not fit one default feed
People often choose a film, play, or performance through language before genre. At the same time, cities are multilingual and visitors may want events outside the dominant regional language. A single hard-coded language filter handles neither situation well.
Shows lets each device keep an ordered set of preferred languages. Those choices shape discovery while an All option keeps the wider catalogue available. Location and language are inputs to relevance, not judgments about quality.
Preferences stay under the visitor’s control
The discovery preferences panel separates search origin, travel distance, and languages. A city can be selected without precise GPS, and GPS is requested only through an explicit action. Preferences can be changed whenever travel plans or interests change.
Better metadata helps local work travel farther
Contributors should select the language used by the performance and provide a clear title rather than stuffing several spellings into one field. Consistent metadata makes filters more useful and gives search engines a clearer description of the public event page.
